Terms and Conditions

The terms of using Textoria: a plain-English license covering acceptable use, your ownership of your own text, liability limits, and how disputes work.

Overview

These are the terms on which Textoria is offered to you. They cover what you may do with the site, what we ask you not to do, who owns what, and how responsibility is divided when something goes wrong. We have tried to write terms a normal person can read in one sitting, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. The companion documents are the privacy policy, the cookie policy, and the disclaimer; this page references them rather than repeating them.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using Textoria, you agree to these terms. There is no checkbox and no signature, so the honest description is this: if you use the site, these terms apply to that use, and if you do not accept them, the remedy is to stop using the site. Since the site is free and asks you for nothing, we hope that is a proportionate arrangement. If you use Textoria on behalf of an organization, such as a school or an employer, you are agreeing for that organization as well.

2. No accounts

Textoria has no user accounts, no sign-up, no subscriptions, and no login. You are never asked for a name, an email address, or payment details to use a tool. That means there are no account terms to write: no passwords to protect, no account-sharing rules, no cancellation process. What you see is the whole offering. The privacy policy explains what this architecture means for your data; the short version is that text you enter into any tool stays in your browser.

3. License to use the site

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Textoria for lawful purposes, including both personal work (essays, applications, fiction, correspondence) and professional work performed internally (client documents, marketing copy, code comments, reports). You may use the tools on any document you are entitled to process, as many times as you like, for free.

What the license does not include:

  • Copying the site, its code, or its content and republishing it elsewhere.
  • Offering Textoria's tools to your own customers as though they were your service, under your brand, without our written permission.
  • Removing or altering branding, attribution, or these terms.

If you want to do any of those things, email info@textoria.online and ask. Some uses we will happily grant. A classroom that points students at the tools needs no permission at all, since that is ordinary use.

4. Acceptable use

The site runs on infrastructure we pay for, so a small number of rules protect it:

  • Do not use automated means (scripts, bots, scrapers) to place unreasonable load on the site. Occasional, sensible automation is fine; a crawler that hammers every page every minute is not.
  • Do not attempt to probe, break, or circumvent the site's security, or to interfere with anyone else's use of it.
  • Do not use the tools to prepare content whose purpose is itself unlawful, such as fraud documents or harassment material. We cannot see what you type, so this rule is ultimately between you and the law, but it is a rule of these terms regardless.
  • Do not resell access to the tools as described in the license section above.

Note the unusual situation: because all 22 tools run client-side in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded, stored, or logged, most of the "acceptable use" machinery that other services need simply does not apply here. Your document never touches our systems. The rules above protect the website itself, not data we hold about you, because we hold none.

5. Intellectual property

The site belongs to Textoria

The site's content, design, articles, tool code, branding, and the name Textoria are owned by us or used with permission, and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. These terms give you a license to use the site; they do not transfer any ownership to you. Quoting an article with attribution, sharing a link anywhere, and printing a guide for personal reference are all fine and need no further permission.

Your text belongs entirely to you

This is the section we care most about, so here it is without decoration: text you paste into any Textoria tool remains completely yours. We acquire no rights in it, no license to it, and no copy of it. The tools process your text in your own browser and never transmit it to us, which means there is no mechanism by which we could claim, keep, or sell it. No terms could make that clearer, but we are stating it anyway, because visitors who paste contracts and unpublished manuscripts deserve to see the sentence.

If you email us at info@textoria.online, your message and anything you choose to include in it are ordinary correspondence: we use it to answer you and act on what it says, and for nothing else. You are never obliged to send actual document text. Describing a problem is almost always enough, and the contact page says so.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available." The disclaimer page states the details, including the specific limitations of each tool family and the absence of warranties. Read it; it forms part of these terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Textoria, the Textoria editorial team, and anyone else involved in producing the site are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on its outputs. Where liability cannot be excluded entirely, our total liability for any claim connected with the site is limited to the amount you paid us to use it, which is nothing, because the site is free.

In plain terms: verify a tool's output before it influences a submission, a publication, or a contract. The tools are aids, and the decision to rely on one is yours.

7. Changes to the site and to these terms

The site changes. Tools improve, new ones appear, and occasionally something is retired. We do not promise that any particular tool will remain available in its current form, though nothing you typed into a tool can ever be lost through a change on our end, because we never had it.

These terms may change too. When they do, this page is updated and the "Last updated" line at the top changes. Material changes get a note in plain language near the top of the page for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

8. Ending access

We may suspend or withdraw access to the site, in whole or in part, at our discretion, including for conduct that violates these terms. There is no account to terminate, so in practice this means blocking access to the site itself, and in practice that happens rarely and only for the abuse described in section 4. You may stop using the site at any time; because nothing about you is stored server-side, leaving requires no process, and clearing the site's data in your browser removes even the small preferences stored on your device.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of Textoria resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If something about the site has harmed you or violated these terms, contact us first at info@textoria.online. Real disputes between a free text-tools site and its readers are, in our experience, misunderstandings about what a tool does, and misunderstandings are fixable with a paragraph of honest explanation. Both sides agree to attempt resolution in good faith before anything more formal.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms go to the same inbox as everything else: info@textoria.online. The Textoria editorial team reads every message and typically replies within a few business days.
