Passive Voice Checker

Flag sentences that look passive using a form of "to be" plus a past participle. Review each one in context: passive voice is sometimes the right choice. A rule-based helper, not a grammar authority.

Look for the actor behind the sentence

Paste English prose to flag likely passive constructions: a form of “to be” followed by a past participle. Each match is a question, not an error. Passive voice is the right choice when the actor is unknown, obvious, or less important than the action. The check uses a pattern, so it will miss irregular forms and can flag adjectives.

Frequently asked questions

Does my text leave my browser?

No. Processing happens in a local browser worker. The tool makes no request containing your draft.

Can I upload a document?

Use Import .txt to read a UTF-8 plain-text file locally. Word documents and PDFs are not supported. Copy their text into the input instead. Each field accepts up to 200,000 characters.

Will the result replace my original?

No transformation automatically overwrites your input. Check the output before copying it. Grammar and spelling suggestions change the input only when you choose to apply them.
